Victorian Branch

The Victorian Branch was founded in 2000 as the Coalition of Mental Health Professionals, being a multidisciplinary group advocating for improvements in mental health services. After a child mental health conference in Adelaide featuring contributions by consumers and carers it was resolved to widen the participation to include them and MHYFVic came into being as an inclusive community-based organization.

After 25 years of active work in Victoria, we have taken part in the transition from an association incorporated under the Associations Incorporation Act in Victoria to become a company limited by guarantee under the Companies Act nationally monitored by ASIC. This foreshadows the development of similar organizations across Australia to carry out this work nationally.

Issues relevant only to Victorians will be posted on this subpage.

Although we share a common voice with many other mental health organizations we are different because we do not limit ourselves to just one age group or issue, one professional discipline or one support base, but care about the whole spectrum of issues affecting the mental health of young people and their families
